Ask a questionIn the compulsory health insurance system, the following categories of insured persons are defined:
- employed insured person – an individual employed under an individual employment contract, according to the Labour Code, regardless of the period of employment and the form of remuneration, for whom compulsory health insurance premiums are paid as a percentage of salary and other rewards; employees of residents of information technology parks for whom the compulsory health insurance premiums are paid from the amounts allocated from the single tax receipts; drivers who carry out road transport of persons by taxi for whom compulsory health insurance premiums are paid monthly in the amount of 1/12 of the fixed-sum compulsory health insurance premium;
- persons insured by the Government – non-employed individuals who fall into one of the categories indicated in art.4 para. (4) of the Law on compulsory health insurance, for whom the Government has the status of insurer and the compulsory health insurance premiums for these categories are paid from the state budget (except for persons required by law to insure themselves individually);
- persons insured individually – non-employed individuals who belong to the categories of payers of the fixed-sum compulsory health insurance premium provided for in annex no.2 to the Law on the amount, manner and deadlines for paying compulsory health insurance premiums and who have paid the fixed-sum compulsory health insurance premium.
Insured status gives the person the right to benefit, from the compulsory health insurance funds, from the medical services included in the Unique Programme of compulsory health insurance, accessed in accordance with the provisions of the Methodological Norms for the application of the Unique Programme.

How to apply
- Paying the insurance premium
Compulsory health insurance can be paid in the following ways:
- online – by using the Apply online button;
- at the counter of the CNAM Territorial Service for Relations with Beneficiaries, by taking the following steps.
NB: From 1 April, persons who have not insured themselves within the period set by the legislation (31 March) pay the compulsory health insurance premium in full in the fixed sum, as well as penalties (0.1% of the premium amount for each day of delay), and the insured status is granted from the moment of payment.
- Presenting proof of payment
If the insurance premium is paid through the MPay service, proof of payment is not presented.
- Checking the insured status
The insured status can be checked on the CNAM website.
