Ask a questionApproval (aviz) for family reunification – a document issued by the authority competent for foreign nationals at the request of citizens of the Republic of Moldova domiciled in the Republic of Moldova, or of foreign nationals with a right of residence in the Republic of Moldova under Law no.200/2010 on the regime of foreign nationals in the Republic of Moldova, which is one of the conditions for obtaining a long-stay visa for the purpose of reuniting the family of the person requesting the approval;
A foreign national who holds a temporary or permanent right of residence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova may request an approval for family reunification.
The application for granting the approval for family reunification is submitted in person by the applicant
The authority competent for foreign nationals may issue an approval for family reunification:
1) to a foreign national who holds a temporary or permanent right of residence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, for:
a) a husband or wife;
b) unmarried minor children, born within or outside marriage, as well as those adopted by both spouses or by only one of them, and children entrusted to both spouses or to only one of them by the decision of a competent authority of the state of origin, provided that these children are actually in the care of either spouse;
c) unmarried adult children of the holder of the right of residence or of their husband or wife, if they cannot support themselves for medical reasons;
d) parents who are dependent on the holder of the right of residence or on their husband or wife;
e) persons over whom guardianship or curatorship has been established.
2) A citizen of the Republic of Moldova, for:
a) a husband or wife;
b) a partner – an unmarried foreign national who lives with an unmarried citizen of the Republic of Moldova and has at least one child with them;
c) minor children, born within or outside marriage, as well as those adopted by both spouses or by only one of them, and children entrusted to both spouses or to only one of them by the decision of a competent authority of the state of origin, provided that these children are actually in the care of either spouse;
d) adult children of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova or of their husband or wife, if they cannot support themselves for medical reasons;
e) parents who are dependent on the citizen of the Republic of Moldova or on their husband or wife;
f) persons over whom guardianship or curatorship has been established.

How to apply
- Submitting the request
Requests are submitted:
- at the single counter for the documentation of foreign nationals at the IGM and at the territorial services
- single counter for the documentation of foreign nationals, Chișinău, 124 Ștefan cel Mare și Sfînt Boulevard
- North regional service for the documentation of foreign nationals, Bălți, 9 Moscovei Street
- South regional service for the documentation of foreign nationals, Comrat, 22 Comsomolului Street
- South regional service for the documentation of foreign nationals, Cahul, 79 Ioan Vodă cel Cumplit Street
- Paying for the service
The service is paid:
- through the government electronic payment service MPay
- by bank transfer
- at Poșta Moldovei
- Processing and examining the application
When the file is submitted with all the necessary documents attached, the GUDS employee checks whether the foreign national named in the application appears in the Register of Foreign Nationals in SsIIGM and consults their history;
The conclusions resulting from the analysis of the attached documents and of the results of the above-mentioned checks on the foreign national and on the individual/legal entity inviting them are recorded by the official in a report, which must contain the proposal to approve or reject the Approval, with the reasoning required for the case.
- Issuing the Approval
The official of the Visa Section or of the Regional Service issues the Approval to the applicant, which is recorded by the applicant's signature on the back of the application.
When issuing the Approval, the official informs the applicant again about the regime of foreign nationals on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and about the possible removal of the foreign national from the country at the expense of the applicant for the Approval, if the foreign national does not leave the country within the period granted in the visa/residence permit.
Required documents
- Application – the form for granting the Approval on inviting a foreign national for the purpose of family reunification
- A statement on one's own responsibility that they are not in polygamy
- A copy of the passport page with the identification data of the invited person, valid for no less than 12 months
- The marriage certificate (transcribed in the Civil Status Register of the Republic of Moldova), original and copy, or, where applicable, legalised/apostilled (as established), translated into the state language and authenticated by a notary or at the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova, original and copy
- The child's birth certificate, transcribed in the Civil Status Register of the Republic of Moldova, or, where applicable, legalised/apostilled (as established), translated into the state language and authenticated by a notary or at the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova, original and copy
- The valid identity card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova, original and copy / the valid temporary/permanent residence permit of the foreign national, which attests legal residence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova
- Documents attesting the right of ownership or use of the dwelling, original and copy
- Proof of means of subsistence in the amount of at least one average monthly salary in the economy for each family member (where applicable).
- Payment of the state fee and the service fee.
