Recognition of a foreign diploma in Moldova

For people with a diploma or qualification from abroad who want to continue their studies or work in Moldova. The recognition and equivalence certificate compares your studies with the Moldovan system; the documents and where to apply are below.

Good to know

  • The service is free and takes 30 working days, counted from the day your complete file is registered at the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC).
  • The result is a Certificate of recognition and equivalence. It compares your studies and qualification with the Moldovan education system and lets you continue studies and/or look for work, under the current rules.
  • You can apply if you hold the diploma, if you are a first-degree relative of the holder (with a document that proves it), or as a legal representative with a notarised power of attorney.
  • If your file is incomplete, you are told by e-mail, phone or post. You have 1 year from the notification to complete it. After that the MEC closes the file and you must start over with a new complete one.
