Report a lost or stolen ID or passport

For Moldovan citizens whose identity card, old ID (buletin) or passport was lost or stolen, or whose child under 18 lost theirs, and who must report it before getting a new one.

Good to know

  • Reporting is free and done the same day. For a lost or stolen passport a 50 lei state fee applies.
  • Foreigner? This page is about Moldovan documents. If you lost your residence permit, ask us about your case.
  • Each declaration is for one person. You can declare together: the identity card, the buletin, up to two valid passports, and invalid passports that were never handed in for cancellation.
  • After you report, the document is cancelled and becomes invalid for good. Its status cannot be restored.
  • If your identity card held the qualified electronic signature certificate, the certificate is revoked automatically at the same time. If you still have the card reader, you can use it again with the new card; losing the reader does not make your card invalid.
  • Online, a child's lost or stolen documents can be reported only by parents who are legally married.
