Good to know
- The owner (or an authorised person) can deregister a vehicle when the owner proves it was dismantled, scrapped or handed over to a specialised unit, or when the vehicle is to leave Moldova for good.
- It is free for scrapping or a change of the VIN code, for deregistration under a court decision cancelling the registration, and when the owner asks for a temporary stop (with later re-entry on a new request). It costs 50 lei for export, for deregistering in order to register with another registrar in Moldova without transit papers, and when the owner of a vehicle with a neutral plate no longer qualifies, or sells it or gives it to someone else.
- You hand in the registration certificate and the number plates, together with the documents that prove the situation.
- For an exported vehicle you also get a provisional registration certificate and transit plates with the mark "T".
- On deregistration, the top corner next to the 2D code on the registration certificate is cut off.
